If you are looking for image quality, it is normal for your eyes to go to OLED TVs. And in OLED TVs, number one is LG. The LG OLED evo G1 is the best example of how far these TVs go. A team available in sizes of 55, 65, and 77 inches and 4K resolution, with a good set of top specifications for the most demanding users. Among them are a panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium technologies for games. It is also compatible with HDR 10 PRO or Dolby Vision IQ to enjoy movies and series and with the FILMMAKER MODE, devised by some of the most important film directors of the moment.
All this with a design very focused on its mounting on the wall since it has an integrated system to hang it as you take it out of the box. This is helped by the fineness of this panel type, which does not need a greater thickness to include the backlighting system. In addition to all this, the Korean company wanted to turn this television into a piece of equipment so that all members of the family can use it, so it has created a panel with low blue light emission to avoid visual fatigue (with certifications from laboratories such as TÜV Rheinland. The LG OLED evo G1 is now available for a starting price of about 1,800 euros. We will tell you about its main features and strengths in this article.

OLED TECHNOLOGY IN ALL ITS GLORY
Talking about an OLED television is synonymous with quality… And prices that can leave your pocket shivering. The LG OLED evo G1 complies in the first case, but in the second, it remains at prices that, although high, do not skyrocket as in previous years. Thus, we have a delightful panel when faced with dark scenes. Although much work has been done on LED panel technologies, OLED screens still have that unique touch that is not easy to achieve. This happens since its pixels turn on and off individually, so we don’t have that annoying bright halo effect in dark areas or stay with a certain brightness. Not requiring rear lighting is also noticeable in a slimmer design that stays up to two centimeters thick.
Of course, be careful because the company has introduced a new layer on its panel to improve image quality and brightness. Ultimately, we see how the different panels (OLED and LCD) are working to enhance their strengths and minimize their weaknesses, and the borders are becoming less clear between technologies.
The LG OLED evo G1 also has a series of technologies that improve the image. Its 4K α9 Gen4 processor with artificial intelligence plays an important role in this equation, which is capable of learning from the use you make of the TV to offer you the best color or contrast settings at all times. LG has confirmed that its panel can reproduce 100% of the DCI-P3 spectrum, which means that we will have images that are very close to the source and what the creator intended. It should also be noted that it is a panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz, so the images are more fluid (something you will notice, especially in compatible games or action movies).
Speaking of games, the Korean company wanted to boost this TV’s performance for gamers. In addition to this refresh rate, dedicated technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium or NVIDIA G-SYNC come into play. In both cases, the aim is to avoid the effects of tearing or horizontal stripes that occur due to synchronization problems between the screen and the graphics card. By the way, it also has a response time of only 1 ms, so the orders you give on your controller will instantly be reflected on the screen. Other TVs, even premium ones, have more response times than 5ms.
Continuing at this point, this panel has HDR 10 Pro, which is an improved version of Korea’s own HDR to improve color reproduction and make them look more intense and real. It is also interesting to mention Dolby Vision IQ. This technology intelligently adapts the colors and contrast of the television to the light in your living room and the content you are viewing. Another one that couldn’t be missing was the FILMMAKER MODE. This specific mode has had the support of several film directors, such as Christopher Nolan, which seeks to give you the same movie experience the artists wanted.
Finally, this panel is certified by TÃœV Rheinland as a TV with low blue light emission. This blue light can make it more difficult for us to sleep at night and also causes more eyestrain. An improvement that is not only designed for the elderly but is also key for the smallest of the house.
WALL HANGING DESIGN
Regarding the design, we have a very elegant television designed with a very clear idea: to hang it on the wall. You already have a kit to install on the wall in the TV box itself, with a cardboard guide to facilitate installation (as seen in the demonstration video). It is a very thin television, which takes full advantage of OLED technology to reduce the thickness of the screen. Specifically, it has a profile of 2 centimeters. Come on, the same as a robust laptop. If you want this TV on a surface, you can use its base, metallic, and central type.
The frames surrounding the panel are also very thin, so you will have that feeling of an infinite screen that suits the latest TVs. If you want this TV, you can do it in three different sizes:Â 55 inches, 65 inches, and 77 inches. We must not forget that we are dealing with a TV with 4K resolution, so I would stay at 55 inches or 65 inches. If you want a larger size, I would advise waiting for 8K TVs to drop even more in price to fully enjoy their level of detail.
As for its physical connections, we have a good set of connectors. For example, we have four HDMI 2.1 ports. This connection allows you to triple the bandwidth of HDMI 2.0, and it will be noticeable when playing with next-generation consoles such as the PS5. Here you can see that we are facing a very gaming-oriented television.
We also have three USB ports, but USB 2.0 type, so there are not very high transfer rates if you connect a hard drive to the TV.
LG INTERFACE
In the bowels of the LG OLED evo G1, we find the brand’s operating system in its latest version, webOS 6.0. It is a fairly intuitive platform, with a menu at the bottom of the TV in vertical strips that I have always found very easy to use. In this menu, you can access the equipment’s configuration, the different applications we have installed, or the store to install more. I find it a simpler and more logical interface than Samsung. The quality and quantity of the apps is on par. This facility is missing to interact with the mobile and send content directly to the TV that Android TV or Chromecast gives us.
As for the command, we have the Magic Remote. Unlike Samsung, LG opted for a controller with more buttons and a pointer to move through the interface or when browsing the Internet. Quite comfortable and, yes, with a considerable size. This remote control incorporates a microphone so that we can control the TV directly through our voice.
WIRELESS NETWORKS
In wireless connections, the LG OLED Evo G1 offers you Bluetooth 5.0Â and a function to easily connect with external speakers without cables. In this case, the Korean company could have pushed a little more to have Bluetooth 5.2 on the TV, whose improvements focus on better audio quality and stability.
This TV is compatible with Apple’s AirPlay 2, so we can see the contents of our Apple devices (iPhone, iPad…) directly on the TV without having to connect them. It also has Miracast, designed to stream directly from a device such as a mobile on TV. However, it is indeed a technology that has not been as successful as it was supposed to be.
PRICE AND OPINIONS
The LG OLED evo G1 is available in three sizes, the prices of which vary quite substantially. And it is that the smallest 55-inch format can be found in stores for a price of around 1,800 euros. The next step, the 65 inches, already exceeds 3,000 euros. In contrast, the 77-inch format (we are already talking about a length of 177 centimeters) costs 5,000 euros.
In short, it is a TV incorporating the best of LG technologies for its OLED TVs, although it remains in 4K resolution. That’s something to remember, but with image enhancement technologies and a powerful processor, you’re not likely to miss a higher resolution. In addition, everything indicates that we still have a few years to go until there is a large amount of native 8K content. The strengths are in its 120Hz panel for gamers, in the OLED’s ability to deal with dark scenes and give you that point of spectacularity, and in its design, which is highly oriented towards the preciousness of hanging it on the wall as if it were a painting.
