That same date, it had 575 branches and 3,736 employees, and just one month later, it was absorbed by Unicaja Banco. Liberbank and Unicaja finalized their legal merger in July 2021. This merger between the two banking entities will create the fifth-largest bank in Spain, with more than 109,000 million euros in economic assets.

From next Thursday, May 19, to Sunday, May 22, Liberbank’s IT and operational integration process will occur. This process will produce temporary interruptions in the online banking service during these four days.

These days the bank will transfer all the accounts, direct debits, and products of the clients coming from Liberbank to its new digital banking in Unicaja Banco. This move may involve some changes for customers affected by the migration.

From Thursday, May 19, there will be certain digital interruptions, so it will not be possible to make immediate transfers or use Bizum. On Monday the 23rd it will be possible to use these services normally again.

On Friday, May 20, at 3:00 p.m., Liberbank’s digital banking will cease operation. Its customers can only access it through Unicaja Banco’s digital banking, both from the web and the mobile application. This access to Unicaja Banco will be with the same username and password that they used in Liberbank. About the use of certain services, customers can withdraw money at ATMs or pay with a card in any business and make purchases on the Internet.

As of Monday, May 23, all former Liberbank customers can use all digital banking services through www.unicajabanco.es or the Unicaja Banco App, where they can see and manage all their contracted products without any problem.

Users who had accounts at the Liberbank branch will see that the IBAN/CCC of their products changes, adapting to the code of this new entity and office of Unicaja Banco. The corresponding entity will inform this change, and that same entity will be in charge of changing the direct debit receipts, so customers will not have to do any management in this regard. After the merger and until now, all the conditions the clients contracted for their services and products will not change or remain the same.

Regarding users who have Liberbank cards, they will continue to work until they expire, so the customer will not have to change them. If they have them registered to pay with Android mobiles, they must register them again in the Unicaja Banco app when the integration is finished. When using a mobile with iOS, it is unnecessary to register the cards again.

When the integration process is complete, Liberbank customers will have at their disposal both the ATMs of Liberbank entities already existing and those of Unicaja Banco.
