As long as you do not unsubscribe at any time and the payment method is valid (be careful not to change the payment method if your credit card expires or you lose it), this starting price will be maintained until you decide to leave the platform. One of the claims of HBO Max is the maximum 4K image quality, but if we look at the fine print, all that glitters is not gold. Only some content is available of this quality, barely twenty films; it will also depend on your viewing device.

“HBO Max will play in the highest video and audio quality that your device supports,” they explain. Still, the quality of your connection will also come into play since the platform automatically adjusts the video quality based on “the width of the band and the speed of your connection.” Finally, they warn that it is not something that you can change manually.

However, “movies available in 4K HDR are also available in HD for all compatible devices”, so if you do not “meet” the requirements, you can continue to view the platform’s content at the usual quality.

WHAT IF I ALREADY HAVE HBO?

One big question, especially for people with HBO services, is: What if I already have HBO? Is HBO Max a different platform? The reality is that no, it is the same but renewed. They explain it themselves, “To start enjoying the new service, you just have to log in to HBO Max with your HBO Spain account data.” Therefore, if you already have access to HBO, you can enjoy all the news of the Max “version” without changing anything.

So if you already have HBO, will you pay more than new subscribers? The answer is Yes. Like any introductory offer or to attract new customers, it will be for new customers only and will not apply to existing HBO accounts, which will maintain their rates. Of course, made the law, made the trap. Maybe you want to sign up for the new service and cancel the old one to save a few euros. If so, do it with a different email…
