Today the Spanish Justice has dealt a hard blow to the pages that replicate soccer broadcasts without the express consent of the rights holders. According to CincoDías, the Economy section of El País, a commercial court in Madrid has ruled in favor of Telefónica Audiovisual Digital in a lawsuit filed against Internet operators and providers to identify and block access to a list of websites that until now offered – and offer – pirated content. Far from being a dissuasive sentence, the draft includes a novelty that will affect the rest of pirate websites, a novelty that we will see below. Some pages affected are Roja Directa, Elite Gol, Intergoles, Pirlo TV, and forty additional pages.

THE FUTURE OF PIRATED WEBSITES HANGS IN THE BALANCE

The novelty introduced by the sentence in the original draft comes to apply what the so-called Digital Gag Law defined after its approval in Congress last November.

Specifically, the measure mentioned says that the plaintiff may provide a new list of web pages to block weekly without judicial approval or approval. The measure does not mention how the blockades will be applied, but everything indicates that they will be carried out periodically.

Until now, any judicial process related to piracy lasted several months from the filing date of the lawsuit. This new measure could shorten the blockades to a few weeks.
